Lil Wayne's highly-anticipated album The Rebirth has reportedly been pushed back again, this time to mid-summer.

While Cash Money Records has not yet released a statement, the project is now set to drop in late July.

There are only so many ways to report an album delay. In the case of Lil Wayne, that number currently stands at five. Weezy F. Baby's foray into rock has been pushed back one month from June 23 to July 21, Rap-Up.com can report. The album has had numerous delays since its original April 7 release date. It is scheduled to feature Fall Out Boy, Kevin Rudolf and Avril Lavigne. (Rap-Up)

Initially set to drop this spring, the project was given multiple June release dates.

Lil Wayne's rock-inspired album Rebirth once again has been delayed. After being pushed back from June 9 to June 16, the record is now targeted to hit U.S. market on June 23. With the new release date, Weezy's new effort will no longer face off Ashley Tisdale's sophomore set Guilty Pleasure. Instead, it will go head-to-head with LeToya Luckett's next installment Lady Love. However, the newest date is yet to be confirmed by the rapper's label. And, rumor swirls that another pushback may be set again for the record. (Ace Showbiz)

Weezy recently hinted at what concepts fans could expect from the project.

"The fans should expect from the new album, more electricity, more more more power, more everything, more me," Wayne explained. "But different edge of course, it's really different from what they've been used to but, it's still me at the end of the day. The influence of the new album is mainly rock, but again, it's me. So I guess, I guess I'll call it my rock. Yeah." (Soundcheck)

Reports earlier this year hinted at the album possibly being shelved by Universal.

Universal big wigs are cautious of the rock album release considering the first single from the project, "Prom Queen", dropped in January but only reached No. 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Lil Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant has allegedly been advised against letting the star press ahead with the project. A source says, "If Wayne doesn't brighten up, they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it's never going to be released." (Examiner)
